Michael Anthony Anastasia, 79, passed away on March 2, 2022 in Naples Florida.

He will be remembered by his love of life and kindness to all he encountered. As a young man he served in the United States Navy then made a career in Real Estate Development and Aviation.

Michael was a car enthusiast and loved his Harleys. He had the most interesting garages where family and friends gathered. He enjoyed sharing great stories of pursuing an adventurous life and as often as possible headed out on a road trip, either in a motor home or towing some classic car. In his spare time he enjoyed reading about science and history.

Flying airplanes and boating were also a big part of Michael’s life. In 1980 he played a part in the Mariel Boat Lift and many Caribbean adventures followed.

Michael was one very rich fellow, not by his wallet, but by his heart. His behavior toward others was often priceless. He found the good in everyone.

Michael was a man’s man and a ladies’ man for sure. Always a gentleman.

Michael was born in Chicago Illinois, but a big fan of Naples Florida. In 1975 he was proud to relocate his family to Naples. Lake Placid Florida was his other favorite place and he enjoyed his last years there.

Michael was a member of The American Legion and Moose International.

Michael was a proud father of all of his children, Lisa Anastasia Reisman, Mark Anthony Anastasia, Laura Anastasia (Samuel Hubschman), Alexia Anastasia (Daniel Brown); his grandchildren, Kendra Frances Quinn Anastasia, Julia Anastasia Reisman, Jayda Parker Reisman, Sawyer Schwartz, Allan Anastasia Baker, Michael Skyler Anastasia and Piper Anastasia Brown.

Michael is survived by his sister, Anastasia Capalbo and brother-in-law, Peter Massaro.

He is the son of Josephine Mary Gilberto Anastasia and Rocco Enrico Anastasia.

At his passing, he held onto the hand of Lillian Anastasia, the Mother of his oldest three children.

Michael will never be forgotten and his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.

Several days ago my brother a brief note to my son to describe a very special and loved member of our family. Though we were not often physically close as adults, we all spent many a Sunday afternoon together at the home of our grandparents. I think perhaps, Michael became the Uncle Matt to the next generation of our family. I’m appreciative to have the chance to share it with all of Michael’s children & grandchildren.

“my cousin Michael was quite the character.I am hesitant to use the word cool but I guess if we went back to the 50’s he would qualify. As I think about it his father was responsible for much of what helped to make him cool but to an impressionable young boy all I saw was (alternately) a Crosley station wagon or a model A pick up truck in the garage, a pool table in the basement. A turquoise green 55 (or 6?) chevy with a 327 vette engine that turned out to be stolen.(the engine, not the car.)And speaking of vettes, he had his share.
One of my oldest memories was of him selling newspapers on the corner of 95th and ashland. More than anyone else, he made me realize that the gearhead gene was one of the most important a boy can have.”

Michael will always have a special place in our hearts and fondest memories.
We’ll never forget his generosity as a host in Naples, Florida, nor the fun we had scouring the San Fernando Valley in California in search of special parts for his then new jeep.
With respect, admiration and love,
Janette and Ron Filecia

My cousin Michael was my idol and roll model from my earliest memory. From countless interesting cars to his numerous boats there was always something mechanical to fascinate young man like me. We will all miss his humor, insight, and humanity.
